Walmart a good neighbor

I read with interest the article regarding the closure of the Scolari’s Food & Drug appearing in the Nov. 8 edition of the Record Courier. The article seems to suggest the primary reason for the closure is the recent opening of the Gardnerville Walmart however that simply isn’t true. Our stores routinely co-exist with grocers and businesses of all sizes across the U.S., and Northern Nevada is no exception.

In addition to featuring affordable merchandise, fresh groceries and unmatched convenience, the Gardnerville Walmart has brought approximately 250 jobs to the area. The company spends more than $150 million with suppliers in state thus supporting another 10,699 jobs. As an engaged community partner, Walmart also has made numerous charitable contributions totaling more than $11.3 million dollars to several important local nonprofit organizations in Nevada.

We continue to look forward to being an active member of this community and serving the needs of its residents and others.
