Volunteers needed to help overseas troops
The Topaz Ranch Estates community, along with other volunteers came together Oct. 8 and held a rummage sale for the troops. All proceeds went to “Cookies for the Troops,” and the family of Marine Josh Robinson who was recently killed in Afghanistan.
This is the time of year when volunteers get ready to bake, package and send homebaked cookies to local soldiers and their units overseas. The rummage sale made enough money to defray much of the cost of shipping these cookies.
Volunteers are always needed to bake and package cookies. Packaging is 10 a.m. Nov. 28 at the Topaz Ranch Estates Church.
Volunteers are also enlarging the outreach to the troops by sending care packages of everyday items that the U.S. military does not issue. Items include Chap Stick, Visine, batteries, tube socks, unscented lotion. These items will be shipped out whenever there is enough items to make a shipment.
If you have any listed items to donate, take them to any drop off point at Topaz Joe’s Market, Topaz Ranch Estates Church, the Coffee Shop in T.R.E., Iggy & Squiggy’s Junction Bar, the Rehab Center at Holbrook Junction and Fastenal or Round Table Pizza in Gardnerville.
