Trust our leaders
Following the events of Sept. 11, the rhetoric seems to intimate that we now are at war with terrorism. The fact remains, we have been at war with terrorism for many years. It is just that now it has hit home in a very tragic way.
As President Bush indicated, we must now come together as a nation, not as individuals with our own agenda, in supporting whatever means and methods our leaders deem as the means in reducing the actions of terrorism on a worldwide scale.
Whatever individuals may think about the course that this takes us, it is not in anyone’s best interest to question the validity of the action taken “before it happens.” We have elected our representatives in this great land to do just that – represent us. Let them do their job and complain to them about any probelms we have with their decisions after the fact. I have been a part of the military and subsequent government operations and I have been very critical of many of the things of which I was a part; however, over the past 50 years, I have found that most of the decisions regarding the safety and well-being of all of us in this country have been made with just that in mind.
As just another citizen in this great country of ours, I implore any and all of you to stand by the decisions of our elected leaders. They have not let us down in the past and, with the grace of God and their good judgment, they will continue to do so in the future.
