Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has provided $1,600 to Douglas County Historical Society to help keep its museums open for the enjoyment of all, as part of its Care Abounds in Communities program.

Through this program, Thrivent Financial members receive financial support for hands-on service activities and/or supplemental dollars for fund-raising activities benefiting individuals, families and qualified nonprofit organizations.

Heidi Struve, from Lutheran Community Services for the Regional Financial Office of Thrivent Financial, said the funds were raised by the Douglas/Alpine Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

The Taste of Gardnerville was supported by local volunteers of Thriven in Partnership with the Historical Society and supporting funds were made available.

“Through the Care Abounds in Communities program, we are able to put our members’ hard work and the organization’s dollars together to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Struve.

The Thrivent chapter Care programs allow for the allocation of funds to service teams, which help Lutheran congregations, individuals and community organizations through fund-raisers and hands-on service activities.

Members and non-members volunteer through one or more service teams that exist in the community or in congregations.

Anyone can join in the fellowship of a volunteer activity. To find a local chapter, visit the Chapter Locator at http://www.thrivent.com/fraternal or call (800) 236-3736.
