Thanks for leadership
This year I had the pleasure of being a part of Leadership Douglas County 2011 class. The program, which is offered through the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce, has been very enlightening. Through Leadership Douglas County, I got the opportunity to tour some Douglas County facilities and businesses. During this process I also met a lot of new people. I would encourage anyone that is interested about learning all the different aspects of Douglas County to enroll in this program.
One part of the program is that the entire class has to work together on a class project. This November Douglas County will be turning 150 years old and we thought it would be fitting to host an event for the sesquicentennial. The event we hosted was a community event at Minden Park on Oct. 1. It was a fun-filled day with music, bounce houses, historical displays, food and beverages and a community service directory we handed out. We would like to thank the couminty for coming out and supporting this great comunty event that day which helped make it a success. We would also like to thank the following sponsors of this great community event: GE, The Record-Courier, Waddell & Reed, Tombstone Tap & Grill, Dr. James the Dentist, Valley Eyecare, Edgewood Companies, Coastal Aire & Sheet Metal, Joe Benigno’s Tree Service, The Town of Minden, The Ridge Resorts, Resource Concepts, AVK & Pro Group Management. A special thanks to China Springs youth camp, Carson Valley Active 20-30 club No. 85, and Douglas County for there assistance with this event.
