There’s still time to buy tickets for a Sock Hop/’50s themed dinner dance hosted by the Tahoe Douglas Elks on Saturday, Feb. 11. All proceeds from the event will benefit Project Safe Haven, a non-profit emergency shelter care program for abused and neglected children. Project Safe Haven was initiated as a joint project in 1990 between the Nevada State Elks Association and the State of Nevada Department of Human Resources, Child and Family Services Division.

The evening features no-host cocktails at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. Marla Morris, Social Service Manager for Nevada Child and Family Services, will address the audience after dinner. Live music and dancing will follow, along with an auction, bake sale and raffles. Dress in your best ’50s outfit, and don’t forget the socks.

Tickets are $15 and must be purchased no later than Monday. For more information, please call Toni Wendt at 265-6136.

The new Tahoe Douglas Elks Lodge is located at 1227 Kimmerling Road in Gardnerville.
