Science and engineering fair at Meneley

CC Meneley Elementary School will host their annual Science and Engineering Fair on Nov. 15. Students in fourth through sixth grades have been busy designing projects and conducting inquiry experiments in preparation for the big event.

The school is looking for science-minded people to interview students and evaluate projects. Judges are needed from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 15. Winning projects will go on to the regional competition in Reno this coming March.

The Science and Engineering Fair will be open to the public the evening of Nov. 15 from 5:30-7 p.m., and again on Wednesday morning, Nov. 16 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Fall in to a good book at the library’s sale

The Douglas County Public Library will hold its annual fall book sale on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hundreds of used books, audio books, and children’s books will be for sale, along with a variety of DVDs and VHS tapes.

A special preview will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, exclusively for members of The Friends of the Douglas County Public Library. Anyone can become a member and attend the preview by joining The Friends of the Library at the door on Saturday morning. Members will also enjoy 10 percent off anything they purchase at the sale.

hours for Nevada

Day weekend

Both branches of the Douglas County Public Library (Minden and Zephyr Cove) will be closed today through this weekend on observance of the Nevada Day holiday. The Minden Library re-opens on Monday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m., and the Zephyr Cove Library resumes its normal schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m.
