School’s back in session

We know whatever the date school’s back in session, it always seems too early for the students and too late for parents.

To put it in perspective, it has only been two months since school let out in June.

All Carson Valley schools start sessions on Monday, which means the school zones across the Valley will be lit up with flashing yellow lights.

Those are located along some of the heaviest traveled routes in the county, including two places on Highway 395 through Gardnerville and one on Highway 88 in Minden.

We’re certain Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies will be quick to hit the red and blue flashing lights to corral anyone caught speeding through those parts of the county.

Our best advice is for residents to time their commute around the school buses, which is one of the reasons we publish the bus schedules as a free service every year. There’s nothing worse than being stuck behind the school bus on the way into work.

You can also find out when schools along your route start, so you can avoid busy crosswalks and reduce traffic near the schools.

However it works out, watch out for children walking to and from school, as well as those big yellow buses, and things will go along just fine.

We’re looking forward to another great school year here in Carson Valley.
