Soroptimist International of Carson Valley and the Carson Valley Conservation District along with Western Nevada Resource Conservation & Development have set Saturday, Oct. 19 as the fifth annual Carson River Workday.
This year’s location will be at the Ambrosetti Pond Ranch which can be reached through an entrance on the west side of Highway 88 just below Cradle Bough Bridge. The fun begins at 8:30 a.m. when the entire community is invited to join in this local environmental project. There will be volunteer work for all ages and juice, coffee and doughnuts will be available in the morning.
Fill dirt will be brought in to establish a gradual slope on the river bank for increased survivability of plant material. As a deterrent to erosion, volunteers will plant willows and cottonwoods.
All participants will receive a T-shirt as well as enjoy a barbequed hot dog lunch prepared by members of the Lions Club.
This is a family event in conjunction with Make a Difference Day that will promote pride in our community and enhance our local environment. For further information, call Paul Pugsley at 782-3661.
