Mrs. Walley is having a well bored for drinking water for the hot springs. She intends erecting a large storage tank to hold 3,000 gallons of water, which will be used for the house and irrigating the garden.

Simon Krummes, who recently underwent an operation at Reno for appendicitis, spent several days with relatives here before again taking up his studies at the University of Nevada.

October 23, 1931
While it was not practical to stop all electrical plants in the country for one minute Wednesday evening, many local people honored the great inventor by switching off their electric lights at 7 o’clock Wednesday evening for one minute.

The annual Gardnerville Kiwanis Club “Halloween Party” for children will be held Monday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m., in the Nevada Theatre. A motion picture will be shown.

There will be no youngsters prowling the streets on Halloween night in Carson Valley. As in past years, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has announced that because of Nevada Day Oct. 31, trick-or-treating will take place a day earlier in the Valley.

Halloween dress-up. The Douglas County Building Industry Association encourages children to dress up this Halloween as “What I want to be when I grow up.” DCBIA is offering free hats to children who dress up as a builder, contractor, construction worker, or fireman. For a hat, call 783-1782.
