November 18, 1892

Ten young men of Genoa have organized a minstrel troupe, under the direction of D. W. Walker. Rehearsals will be held in Genoa beginning next week. The boys expect to put on a better show than any traveling organization has presented and will possibly visit all the small towns in the western part of the state.

November 16, 1917

Monday evening a meeting was held at the high school building for the purpose of organizing for the Y. M. C. A. drive to be held this week. Some $600 are to be raised in this county which will be our share of the $31,700 to be subscribed by xall the communities in Nevada.

November 18, 1932

The sweetest robbery on record here for some time was reported by F. Luhrs this week. His bees produced 114 cases of honey during the past season and a few days ago he completed the work of preparing the honey for market. When the buyer showed up Tuesday the cases were counted for the tenth time and Luhrs received somewhat of a jolt when he found but 96 cases in his shed.

November 15, 1962

Two agricultural officials of Mali, a country in northwestern Africa, visited in Carson Valley last Thursday, touring the Milky Way Farm and the Heise Land and Livestock Company acreage, and meeting with the Gardnerville-Carson Valley Kiwanis Club.

November 19, 1987

A fire in the partly completed roof of the new completed roof of the new Carson Valley Middle School library Monday caused an estimated $2,000 in damage, East Fork Deputy Fire Marshal Bob Dinsmore said. It was quickly brought under control that night, causing minor damage to the structure.

November 9, 2002

Douglas County Sheriff’s office deputies arrested Gardnerville Ranchos resident David Scott Killen, 18, and Gardnerville resident Harley Bowie Hook, 18, for allegedly setting about 12 fires in Douglas County, Storey County, Carson City, and Alpine County, Calif.
