E.M. Sullivan has purchased the interest of Peter Millich in the Sheridan Saloon and hotel and is now the sole owner. Mike intends making many improvements about the place, and will be ready to care for the traveling public when the roads open this spring.

February 9, 1917

Half of the roof of the new Wells high school was blown off during the wind storm last week. The building was erected two years ago.

80 years ago

February 5, 1932

With 38 inches of new snow on the ground at Markleeville following the recent storm, the coverage there is the heaviest at any time this winter. Monday the stage did not attempt to reach Markleeville from Gardnerville and on the following day horses were used to get the mail over the summit.

February 8, 1962

A passenger in a two-door, 1949 model auto received ankle and hip injuries Sunday when the car in which he was riding was involved in an accident near the Nevada Contractors grounds.

The Women’s Aglow Fellowship of Gardnerville-Minden invites all interested women to the monthly meeting today (Feb. 12) Douglas County Library, Minden, 9:30 a.m. Participants are asked to bring a potluck dish and plan to stay for fellowship after the meeting.
