There is an epidemic of illness among the children on the East Fork. Dr. Cook was called this week to the H. C. Dangberg, Chris Larson, M. Mathiesen, and M. Krummes homes.

February 22, 1918

The Red Cross dance given at Genoa last Friday night under supervision of Mrs. J. L. Campbell and Mrs. L. Finnegan, had the largest attendance of any dance given in that town in recent years. People from Carson, Jacks Valley, Sheridan, Woodfords, Markleeville, Gardnerville, Minden and all parts of the Valley were present.

February 24, 1933

Just before this issue went to press it was authoritatively stated that federal officers at Carson received an answer to a wire sent to department of justice officials at Salt Lake City, carrying the information that because quarters in circulation in western Nevada are without the customary date does not substantiate the belief they are bogus. However a request was made to have one of the coins sent to Salt Lake City immediately for examination. Just how United States mints coined so many twenty-five cent pieces blanked instead of date, is not explained, but it is authoritatively stated by federal official at Carson that the quarters in circulation here are genuine.

With zone tournament time only slightly more than a week away, the Douglas Tigers wind up their regular league campaign this week end with contests against the Stewart Braves and the league-leading Hawthorne Serpents. The Stewart game, on Friday, will be the last home game of the season for Douglas.

Douglas County Commissioners have given the thumbs-down sign to a proposed city at Lake Tahoe, but Tahoe Township voters will decide the issue themselves on May 24.

February 19, 2003

Walnut Creek police arrested a Stateline man early Monday after a traffic stop and search of his pickup turned up an explosive device. Allen Dale Clements, 44, was arrested about 3:30 a.m. next to a Chevron gas station in Walnut Creek.
