The Valhalla Society in Gardnerville will give a masquerade February 22. Costumes can be secured from Cagwin & Noteware at Carson and a supply will be on hand that night at Geo. J. Brown’s in Gardnerville.

Tuesday butter jumped to 42 1/2 cents per pound, the highest price reached since the Minden creamery has been in existence. One year ago at this time butter was selling at 28 cents per pound. It is predicted that butter will remain at a top figure for many months to come, but it is not probable that the record price of 42 1/2 cents will prevail for any great time.

The Gardnerville and Minden grammar school basketball teams enjoyed a series of games at the C.V.I.C. hall last Friday afternoon. The games were spirited and the opposition furnished by the less experienced Minden youngsters was greater than the final score would indicate.

February 1, 1962
Two Yerington men will face trial February 9 in East Fork Justice Court on charges of supplying liquor to a minor. The men, Stephen Roan and James Moyer, are now free on $200 bail each.

Douglas County commissioners will be asked today (Feb. 5) to approve a 1,600-square-foot expansion of Katie’s Restaurant at the Carson Valley Inn. Inn officials will be seeking a variance to allow them to expand into a currently landscaped area to within one foot of the front property line along U.S. 395.
