Ranchos offers options for New Year’s celebrations
Well, 2005 flew by in a flash and the new year is upon us. My adult perception of time versus my recollections of childhood always intrigues me. I remember a week used to seem like darn near an eternity and now the years pass by in a blur.
My family will celebrate quietly this year. After traveling for Thanksgiving and Christmas, some time at home sounds just about right.
We will probably head over to Pony Espresso for coffee in the morning. (They will be open until 1 p.m. on New Year’s Eve). I imagine that night we’ll cook a special meal, crack open some games, and enjoy a sparkly glass of something in celebration of the upcoming year. My mental crystal ball predicts that making it to midnight, however, remains highly unlikely.
Those of you looking for a little excitement this New Year’s Eve have a couple of terrific options right here in the Ranchos.
Friends and families can gather together for a night of “Extreme Bowling” at Silver Strike Lanes. Strobe lights and rockin’ music start at 9 p.m. and special food items will be available for purchase. Those over 21 will enjoy a live band in the bar. The manager, Chris, tells me that the party will go from 9 until “whenever” and he invites everyone in to enjoy a fun celebration.
Over at the Stone Pony, Kevin told me about the special evening they are hosting New Year’s Eve. They, too, have a live band starting at 9 p.m. and there will be a champagne toast at midnight. There is no cover charge. In addition, from 5 until 9 p.m., a delicious dinner option is available. Dinner guests will enjoy a choice of appetizer, salad, and entrée. Entrée choices are prime rib, Alaskan king crab, a prime rib/king crab combo, chicken marsala or stuffed ham roll. This special dinner menu is available for $45 per person and reservations are preferred. Call the Stone Pony at 265-8841 to reserve a spot.
Whatever you choose to do this New Year’s Eve, make it a safe and joyous celebration.
May 2006 be filled with blessings, new experiences and peace for us all. Happy New Year!
