Obituary: Thomas J. Kane
Former area resident Thomas J. Kane, 85, who lived in the Sierra Nevada region for 20 years, died Aug. 28 in Spokane, Wash.
He was born Feb. 1, 1915, in Lindhurst, N.J., to Frank and Mary Kane. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, N.J., in 1933. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and earned the American Service Medal and European, African, Middle Eastern and Good Conduct medals.
He married Dorothy Wilson Feb. 9, 1946, in York, Penn. He retired after 38 years from Equi-Fax and liked gardening, reading, and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy; son Michael Kane of Ventura, Calif., daughter Judith Herling of Spokane.; brother Howard Kane of Foxborough, Mass; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held yesterday at Heritage Funeral Home in Spokane, and inurnment will be at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.
