Obituary: Steven Colbert

Gardnerville resident for 17 years; NASCAR race driver

A memorial service for Steven Charles Colbert, 56, who died Nov. 23, 2002 at his Gardnerville home, will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church in Carson City.

Mr. Colbert was born Aug. 21, 1946 in Santa Monica, Calif., to Charles A. Colbert and Gene Ellen Bohn Colbert.

He enjoyed classic cars and music, including Elvis Presley and oldies and was a former NASCAR race driver.

He graduated from Granada High School and lived in Gardnerville for 17 years coming from Southern California. Mr. Colbert worked as a disc jockey for 12 years and was manager of a Kragen Auto Parts store.

Mr. Colbert served in the U.S. Army for two years and was a former president of Carson Valley Cruisers.

He was preceded in death by his parents. His father died in 1962 and his mother in 1993.

Surviving are wife Stephanie Colbert of Gardnerville; daughter Jennifer Colbert of Gardnerville; stepson Kevin Taylor of Carson City; and sister Carol Colbert Bell of Gainesville, Texas.
