Obituary: Mary A. Kusarik

Served in Women's Army Auxiliary Corps

Mary A. Kusarik died Dec. 9, 2003, at the Evergreen Care Center in Carson City.

She was born July 16, 1913 to Barney Jankauskas and Magdalena Sanaivitis in Scranton, Penn.

Mary honorably served in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps during World War II. She was employed as a presser for a clothing factory in Pennsylvania for almost 50 years.

She lived in the area for more than three years, moving from Merced, Calif. She enjoyed playing bingo and her friends at the Carson Valley Inn.

She was preceded in death by her husband Vincent Ragni, daughter Josephine, brother Michael, and sister Anna.

Surviving are her son Michael Ragni of Fresno, Calif.; daughter Carolyn A. Pickett of Gardnerville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside service and burial will be Friday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. at Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley, Nev.

Funeral director was FitzHenry’s Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville.
