Obituary: Lillian Mary Hill

Longtime resident of Ely, Nev.; member Episcopal Church

Lillian Mary Eldridge Hill, 96, died Nov. 26, 2003, in Reno.

She was born March 17, 1907, in Baker, Nev. to Alice Leese and David Eldridge.

She married Jeff Davis Hill July 3, 1930, in Ely, Nev. He preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1987. Also preceding her were her parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Lillian had lived in Carson City since 1998, formerly in Reno, and was a previous longtime resident of Ely, Nev.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the Does (Elks), and an active member of the Episcopal Church all in Ely, Nev. She enjoyed reading, fishing and gardening and loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Lois and Maurice “Bud” Gilbert of Minden, daughter and son-in-law Diane and Tom Sheldon of Cedar Crest, N.M., daughter and son-in-law Alice and Ed Torpey of Covina, Calif., sister Daisy Carson of Reno, sister Ethel Mayo (Hugh) of Ely, Nev., sister Jean Hofheins (Jay) of Ely, Nev., 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at a later date in Ely, Nev., and inurnment will be in the Blackhorse Cemetery in Baker, Nev.

Walton’s Sierra Crematory in Carson City and Walton’s Chapel of the Valley in Carson City were entrusted with arrangements.
