Obituary: Evelyn F. Peddicord

Evelyn Fuller Peddicord, 86, died Nov. 30, 2003, at her home in Minden.

She was born Nov. 27, 1917, to Joe D. Fuller and Dora Meyers in Republic, Kan.

She will be remembered for being the best baker of rolls and pies in the Carson Valley. She was a Sunday school superintendent for several years, a life master at duplicate bridge placing second at a national tournament in 1995. She volunteered at the Carson Valley Historical Society and prepared meals for Future Farmers of America leadership conferences.

She enjoyed fishing, playing bridge and entering recipe contests.

She was the director of the Douglas County school lunch program and head cook at the high school for many years. She worked as a caterer for 15 years.

She was an honorary member of Minden Fortnightly and a member of the Carson Valley United Methodist Church.

Evelyn and her husband Jim have lived in the Carson Valley for many year and on Sept. 1, 2003, they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Surviving are her husband Jim Peddicord of Minden; son Neil Peddicord of Gardnerville; daughter Nancy Peddicord Bruce of West Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren Shannon Alm, Robert Bruce and Dawn Buck; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be Saturday, Dec. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville.

FitzHenry’s Crematory in Carson City and FitzHenry’s Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville were entrusted with arrangements.
