Obituary: David S. Robertson

U.S. Marine veteran; Carson City resident for 30 years

David S. Robertson, 81, died Dec. 4, 2003, at the Carson Valley Residential Care Center in Gardnerville.

He was born July 20, 1922, to David S. Robertson and Mary F. Davis in Maud, Okla. He married Pauline Massey on April 19, 1942, in Norman, Okla.

David served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His religious affiliation was Protestant.

He had lived in Carson City for 30 years coming from Garden Grove, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a son David S. Robertson III in 1994, a daughter Shari Pauline Hakala in 1990, and brothers Ode Robertson and John Robertson.

Surviving are his wife Pauline of Carson City; son Steve Alan Robertson of Camarillo, Calif.; daughter LaDonna Byrd-Hicks of Carson City; brother Dee Robertson of Bixby, Okla.; sister Vonia Poffenberger of San Diego, Calif.; sister Iris Shepherd of Post, Texas; sister Vera Sager of Henderson, Nev.; sister Norma Jean Sager of El Centro, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was Dec. 13 at FitzHenry’s Chapel of Faith in Carson City.

FitzHenry’s Crematory and FitzHenry’s Funeral Home in Carson City were entrusted with arrangements.
