Obituary: Candace Mendelsohn

Candace (Candi) Jeanne Mendelsohn, 51, of Gardnerville, died on Aug. 22 of cancer.

She was born in Bellingham, Wash., on Jan. 12, 1949, and adopted at birth by Donald and Marjorie Mitchell.

Mrs. Mendelsohn graduated from Bellingham High School and attended Bellingham Business College.

She was a partner in C.J. Construction and most recently employed as a FEMA inspector. Mrs. Mendelsohn and her business partner, Wanda Wideen, have a record of going out of their way to care personally for the elderly and those in need.

Predeceasing Mrs. Mendelsohn were her parents and brother James.

She is survived by a daughter, Sara Hyatt of Burlingame, and her sister, Donna Eldred of Patterson, N.Y., as well as many caring aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family wishes to extend deep gratitude toward Hospice of the Valley and the many friends who rallied to her care and support during her illness.

Donations of appreciation may be sent in Mrs. Mendelsohn’s name to the Hospice of the Valley, 1107 Highway 395, Gardnerville 89410.

A private service will be conducted by Richard Eldred of Patterson, N.Y.
