OBITUARY: Billie Tucker

Active in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts; longtime volunteer

Billie Jean Tucker, 74, died Dec. 20, 2002 at her Wellington home.

She was born Feb. 18, 1928 in Cecil, Ark., to Irvin Garrett and Sylvia Smith Garrett.

Mrs. Tucker graduated from Fillmore High School in Fillmore, Calif., and was active in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was also active in Rainbow Girls and Jobs Daughters and volunteered for civic organizations in the Santa Paula, Calif. area.

She married Donald Tucker in Fillmore, Calif., in 1944. Mrs. Tucker was a homemaker who lived in Wellington since 1986 coming from Bishop, Calif., where she lived for 15 years. She also lived in the Santa Paula, Calif. area for 42 years.

Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her father and daughter Donna Powell.

Surviving are husband Donald Tucker of Wellington; son Darryl Tucker of Bishop, Calif.; daughters Dinna Betchart of New Mexico and Denise Crawford of Bakersfield, Calif.; and mother Sylvia Smith Garrett of Santa Paula, Calif.; sister Betty Maenza of Ventura, Calif.; brother William Garrett of Santa Paula, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A family inurnment service will be held at Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley.

Cremation will be at Walton’s Sierra Crematory in Carson City.

Walton’s Chapel of the Valley in Carson City is in charge of arrangements.
