Howard Christeson

Served in U.S. Army during World War II; enjoyed fishing

Howard Walker Christeson, 83, of Gardnerville, died Oct. 19, 2002,in Carson City.

He was born July 5, 1919 in Waynesville, Mo. to Walter Christeson and Effie Gan.

Mr. Christeson lived in Gardnerville for one year coming from Lapine, Ore. He was an avid fisherman who built furniture and cabinets for his home.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the coast artillery and achieved the rank of staff sergeant. Mr. Christeson was a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are wife Margaret Christeson of Gardnerville; sons Michael Christeson of El Dorado Hills, Calif. and Jeff Christeson of Rowland Heights, Calif.; brother Walter Christeson of Washington; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service was held yesterday at First Baptist Church in Minden.
