November 6, 1891

A sister of Hans Jepsen of the Bruggs hotel in Carson and M. Jepsen of Gardnerville, arrived from the old country last Sunday.

95 years ago

November 10, 1916

Tuesday some one gained entrance to the harness shop of F. Bassman and among other things stole a role of leather. Mr. Bassman will give $10 for information that will lead to the recovery of the stolen property.

80 years ago

November 6, 1931

A turkey shoot will be held at the Gardnerville rifle range next Sunday it was announced by members of the Douglas County Rifle Club yesterday. Various types of matches will be held and everyone will be given a nice fat turkey for their Thanksgiving dinner.

50 years ago

November 9, 1961

Vodka didn’t agree with a teenage Carson City girl Nevada Day at Lake Tahoe. After drinking the liquor, companions said, she turned blue and lost consciousness. The Tahoe-Douglas Volunteer Fire Department rushed to the scene with a resuscitator and revived her.

November 13, 1986

The Soroptimist International of Carson Valley is selling See’s candy in time for Christmas. The candy comes in mailing containers and is wrapped in holiday wrappings. Candy varies from plain chocolate to candy with nuts, peanut butter, and chocolate Santa Clauses, as well as many other items.

Nov. 10, 2001

It’s official. Seattle-based Starbucks Coffee Company bought 100 acres at the Carson Valley Business Park for $4.5 million. A deed filed with the Douglas County Recorders Office at 10 a.m. Friday closes more than five months of negotiations for the property, which will house a 300,000 square-foot coffee bean roasting and packaging plant.
