Museum to present second melodrama
Dexter DeVille, the local assayer, was cheating the miners, including a pair of greenhorns from the big city of Winnemucca, by exchanging iron pyrite for the gold they brought in to be assayed.
He might still be doing it if he had not been stopped by the undersecretary of the Interstate Departmental Investigation of Technical Systems (IDIOTS) in Carson City. Of course, by the end of the show, everyone will find out that Dexter done wrong.
If you would like to come and boo the villain, cheer the hero and see Dexter outed for the snake he is, come see the melodrama “Mischief in Minden or Dexter Done Wrong” presented by the Douglas County Historical Society at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville.
The Misfits of Dayton will perform this original melodrama on Jan. 13 and 14. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with both a drink and snack bar.
As in the performance of the melodrama “Whistle Stop” that the museum presented in November, this show once again include Mike Maloney playing some of his good old country music. Tickets should be purchased in advance, as Whistle Stop sold out all three days. Tickets are $15 and should be purchased at the museum, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville.
