Carson Valley welcomed the holiday season with the Parade of Lights on a bitterly cold Saturday evening. Thirty-five brightly lit floats decorated with Christmas lights navigated their way along Highway 395 from Lampe Park to Minden Park.

Large enthusiastic crowds gathered to cheer and wave at children and Santa riding atop the creative floats.

A horse-drawn carriage and several dogs made the frozen trek as well as several youths wearing warm holiday apparel. The walking youths tossed candy to youngsters in the crowd.

Six floats claimed victory in their categories:

Youth Float: Gardnerville Gym Tumbleweeds

Civic or Church Float: Calvary Kids Club

County Float: Fish Springs Volunteer Fire Department

Business Float: Bing Materials

Individual Float; Wahoe Tribe

Animal Category: Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital

Other float participants include the following:
