Letter to Editor: Community center

A. Walter

Wouldn’t it be great to have a community center in Carson Valley? With a population of approximately 35,000 people in Carson Valley, which includes 6,196 attending schools in the Valley, there is a greater need for a community or neighborhood center in the Valley.

This center can provide activities and education programs for children, youth and adults. There are many programs that can be operated in this center, including child care programs, after school programs, recreational/youth programs, family child care programs, senior citizen programs and educational programs. This center will have several gyms, classrooms and preschool/childcare facilities.

A community center in the Valley will give our community and youths opportunities for personal growth, quality of life and leadership. If you support a community center in Carson Valley, let your voice be heard.

You can send a letter or talk to our county commissioners encouraging the need for a family-oriented community center. You can mail your letter to: Board of County Commissioners, P.O. Box 218, Minden 89423 or call 782-9821.

A community center will offer a place to have a meaningful involvement and peer relationships within a family atmosphere, which will value diversity, education and individual worth.
