Justin’s Woodcrafts sales benefit food bank, food closet

Justin Thran and his dad, Bob Thran, will be selling birdhouses and other woodcrafts at Scolari’s in Gardnerville Sunday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in front of the store.

The bird houses will be sold at seven Scolari’s locations in seven days. The sale benefits the Food Bank of Northern Nevada and the Carson Valley Community Food Closet.

All profits will be given to the food bank Friday, Dec. 13 on live television between 5:30 and 6 p.m.

For the last nine years, Justin Thran and his business, Justin’s Woodcrafts have donated more than $100,000 to more than 40 different civic and charitable organizations.

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is one of the primary agencies to receive funds from Thran’s work.

Presentations of checks to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet at the Drive By Food Drive, will be made Friday, Dec. 13 at the Carson Valley Inn parking lot.

People wanting to make donations of nonperishable food items (tuna, peanut butter, rice, beans, etc.) can make their donations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Channel 2 KTVN of Reno will televise the event live.

All local businesses are urged to attend with cash or food donations.

“We can’t feed the whole world, but we can make a difference in the lives of people in our communities,” Bob said.
