Fundraiser benefits DHS student

A fundraiser for Douglas High School student Dillon McKenzie is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Standard Diesel and Repair, 1425 B Industrial Way, Gardnerville. Gardener swap Saturday

The Farmer and Gardener Swap Meet and Hoe Down is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hungry Mother Organics, 3190 Highway 395, Minden. Bring tools and garden accessories to barter with other gardeners. Brass band concert in Carson

The Concord brass band plays a benefit concert for the Salvation Army Corps of Carson City, 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. Williams St., Carson City. Book sale at library

The Douglas County Public Library’s used book sale is Saturday through Oct. 2. DVDs, VHS tapes, audio books and paperbacks are on sale in the library lobby during regular hours. The Minden branch is at 1625 Library Lane. Information, or 782-9841.

Valley artists in Tahoe Art Expo

Area artists in a variety of media present their work at the Tahoe Art Expo, noon to 9 p.m. Oct. 1 and 2, at the Horizon Casino in Stateline. Meet the artists at receptions, 4-8 p.m. each day. Get away to Laughlin
