A tremendous “thank you” to all of the many volunteers, organizations, advertising and business people who participated so generously with their time, efforts, interest and donation to the 82nd annual “Genoa Candy Dance and Arts & Crafts Faire.” The Town of Genoa is very grateful for your support.

The community spirit which prevails each year at Candy Dance time is inspiring. This years friends came from all of the surrounding areas to help with preparations to ensure the success of Genoa’s historic event.

A special “thank you” to all of the excellent craft and vendors who make this a fun event. Bonnie and Dan of Northern Nevada Publishing; the many newspapers who published our event information and the many radio and TV stations for their public service announcments that brought an estimated 70,000 to 80,000 visitors to Genoa from all over the West.

A huge “thank you” to Cecile Brown D Candy Dance artist for 2002 who donated her pen and ink drawing for the poster, prints and special T-shirt design; the committee chairperson who so willingly gave of their time; the many candy volunteers who stirred, mixed, weighed and packaged almost 4,000 pounds of homemade candies; the Greater Genoa Business Association who planned the dinner and dance; JT Basque Bar & Dining Room who donated Basque beans; John Ascuaga’s Sparks Nugget for the wonderful bread; tickets printed by the Gardnerville Pizza Barn; the Carson Valley Historical Society; the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Authority; the Tahoe-Douglas Chamber of Commerce at Lake Tahoe; the Heritage Bank of Nevada; statewide transit program, Pride and DART Bus Service; David Walley’s Resort; the Ridge Resort at Lake Tahoe; the Genoa Lakes Golf Course; the Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch in Jacks Valley; the East Fork Fire Department in Genoa; also China Spring Youth Camp, Rite of Passage, the Douglas County Explorers, the Douglas County Posse, Pickel Meadows Mountain Warfare Training Center in California (U.S. Marine Corps) who helped with parking; the Jacks Valley Elementary and Carson Valley Middle School.
