Brass band concert Saturday
The Concord brass band plays a benefit concert for the Salvation Army Corps of Carson City, 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. Williams St., Carson City.
The 38-member Concord Band is a group of volunteer musicians ranging in age from teens to seniors. The band accompanies congregational singing at the Salvation Army’s Concord Community Church. Hear them at salvationarmyconcordca.org

High Desert Rockers meet
The High Desert Rockers meet, 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28, at the Nevada National Guard Center, 2460 Fairview Drive, Carson City. Speaker is Alan R. Coyner, geologist, author and administrator of the Nevada Division of Minerals, who discusses the history and dangers of Nevada’s abandoned mines.
The club’s monthly meeting includes snacks, silent auction, arrowhead lapping demonstration, and sign-ups for field trips and upcoming classes, including gold panning.

Call for artists
Nevada artists are wanted to submit work for the Nevada Artists Association’s 60th annual Nevada Day Show, Oct. 3 – Nov. 19, at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.
There are 10 categories to be judged with ribbons and cash awarded. Entry day is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 2. An artists’ reception is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 3 in the Brewery Arts Center gallery, 449 W. King St., Carson City.

Murder mystery auditions
Proscenium Players announce auditions for the murder mystery, “Eat, Drink and Be Murdered,” 6:30-9 p.m. Oct. 13 and 14, in the Juniper Room of the Gold Dust West Hotel & Casino, Carson City.
“Eat, Drink and Be Murdered” is an audience interactive show where actors perform scripted and improvised lines. There are scripted speaking roles for four women and three men, age 16 and older. Auditions include cold readings and some improvisational acting.
Performances will be in January at the Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino in Carson City.
