Great year for a car show
2013 was an incredible year for the car show. With Mike Schiller’s direction in the last three years, we have raised $7,500, $10,000 and $12,000 this year. This represents about 3,000 quality meals for homebound seniors in need, who may otherwise struggle to have regular meals. The partnership between Mike and the Senior Center has created a successful and growing car show, not to mention the community has been an asset with their donations and sponsorships. Without the shows participants and the Community’s help, the show’s success would not be what it is. After all, the purpose of the Big Mama’s car show is about feeding as many seniors in Douglas County as possible.
Mike has been involved with the show for the past seven years and truly realizes the value of the Meals on Wheels program. When he was injured in a vehicle accident several years ago, he became a recipient of Meals on Wheels for a time until he was well enough to get out on his own.
We are looking forward to the coming years and hope to continue to grow. With Sheri Northway and her influx of new ideas, it’s exciting to imagine how much more we can bring in next year and years to come.
We would like to thank the many Senior Center staff, volunteers, vendors and the all the sponsors for their continued support:
