Elks host spaghetti feed and Christmas tree bingo

by Amy Roby

The Tahoe/Douglas Elks lodge invited everyone to their annual spaghetti feed and Christmas tree bingo night on Friday, Nov. 30 at the CVIC Hall in Minden.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. for nohost cocktails, with dinner to follow at 5 p.m. The menu features spaghetti with the Elks’ special recipe sauce, salad, and garlic bread. Patrons can purchase a variety of tempting dessert items throughout the evening at the bake sale; homemade goodies can be enjoyed during the feast or taken home for a later treat.

Be sure to bring a warm coat; at 6 p.m., everyone is invited to head outside to witness the gazebo lighting at Minden Park. Family Bingo gets underway back inside the CVIC Hall following the outdoor festivities.

Bingo cards are 25 cents per card, per game. Winners are awarded gift certificates redeemable for Christmas trees at the Mountain View Tree Farm on Highway 88. Trees are available for pickup between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and must be claimed by Thursday, Dec. 20.

Children are welcome and are encouraged to participate. Special “kids only” games will be called and feature large stuffed animal prizes. Every participating child will receive a small stuffed animal (while supplies last.)

The cost for dinner is $5 for children ages 12 and under and $8 for adults. Proceeds from the dinner help fund Christmas packages for needy seniors in Douglas County. Christmas tree gift certificates are provided through the generosity of Mountain View Tree Farm and personal donations from Elks members.

Parking spaces are limited, so plan accordingly. The CVIC Hall is located at 1602 Esmeralda in Minden. Mountain View Tree Farm is located between Centerville Road and Kimmerling Road on Route 88 in Gardnerville; their phone number is 265-6675.
