Election: Vote No on Question 4

I have been asked to write a Guest Opinion telling the citizens of Douglas County why they should VOTE NO, on question 4, Tuesday, Nov. 5. I personally do not feel that I need to tell the people of Douglas County anything, because I think, in their mindsa and hearts that they already know why. Because it’s the right thing to do!

For the citizens of Douglas County to preserve and protect their quality of life through a master plan that took so much of their time, so much of their money, over 3 million dollars, Douglas County citizens already know, that they do not have uncontrolled growth, because their master plan does not allow it, so therefore, limiting growth to 280 dwelling units annually is not necessary. Because they know, that their master plan is working and that a VOTE NO, on 4 vote is the right thing to do!

Because citizens of Douglas County want to protect their most precious resource, their children, their grandchildren and future generations, they know that a VOTE NO, on 4 vote is the right thing to do!

Because the citizens of Douglas County want to protect their senior citizens that are living on fixed incomes from the financial stress and burden of property taxes, going up so high, that they must leave Douglas County, they know a VOTE NO, on 4 vote is the right thing to do!

To protect the property rights of those who have ranched endlessly for generations, from further takings of their lifetime investment in their ranchland, the citizens of Douglas County know that a VOTE NO on 4 vote is the right thing to do!

The citizens of Douglas County have faith in their elected officials and want to ensure that laws are implemented through the correct and proper procedures that protect our rights as Americans. They know that laws should not be administered by petition and they know … that a VOTE NO, on 4 vote is the right thing to do!

The citizens of Douglas County know that they have the third lowest tax rate in the state. They realize that it takes jobs, parks, schools, roads and people all kinds of people to maintain a community. They understand that the revenues generated from business and employment help support the needs of their community they know that a VOTE NO on question 4 vote is the right thing to do!

The citizens of Douglas County will be celebrating 138 years as Nevadans this year. Throughout the years these citizens have lived and cooperated responsibly in serving the best interest of their community and so far have done a fine job!

Douglas County citizens know that newcomers to the area, must provide current and responsible research to substantiate and justify their restrictive recommendations and demands to the citizens of the county. I know, that common sense will prevail on question number 4, because the citizens of Douglas County already know that for the future of their beloved valley and to serve the best interest its people, a VOTE NO, on question 4 vote is indeed the right thing to do!
