Record Courier Staff Reports

The KTVN Share Your Holiday Drive-By Food Drive will take place 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Carson Valley Inn.

The men’s quartet, Relaxed Fit, The Alan Jones Ensemble, the Carson Valley United Methodist Church choir, the Douglas High School jazz band and Madrigals, the Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School Advanced Band, the Christian rock band “Gall Stones” from St. Gall Catholic Church and Cub Scout Pack 340 are among the performers.

Santa Claus will appear, along with members of the East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Sheriff’s Posse and Valley Cruisers Car Club.

Food and monetary donations stay in Carson Valley, under the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

There will be four drive-by food drives taking place on Dec. 16, with the others at the Reno Hilton, RC Willey in Reno and Albertson’s-Sav-On Food Center in Carson City.

Event organizer Len Freuh said prior to being held in Minden, the closest food drive was in Carson City.

“Carson Valley is so generous,” said Freuh. “We usually run pretty close to what Carson City brings in.”

Last year, a record 25,000 pounds of food and $8,500 in monetary donations were made at Carson Valley Inn.

“This year we’re shooting for 30,000 (pounds),” said Freuh. “It’s just an amazing event to see all these people giving.”
