Beast Feast offers diners a taste of the wild side

The Rotary Club of Minden is taking a walk on the wild side with its annual Beast Feast fundraiser. The wild game dinner and silent auction is March 9 at the Carson Valley Inn. “It’s a great dinner at a great place and a lot of the community will be attending,” said event chairwoman Robin Caylor. “It’s a wonderful way to give back to the community. Your money is going to support programs and projects in our local community.”The evening begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails and live and silent auctions.Items include a one-week stay at Lake Almanor in California, a full-day rafting trip on the Carson River, massages, car detailing, artwork and more.As well as a smoked muscovy duck breast appetizer and spinach salad, entree choices include herbed crusted buffalo prime rib with sea salt cured prawns, oven baked farm raised chicken breast stuffed with wild rice, oven baked trout stuffed with shrimp, scallops and crab or a vegetarian stuffed grilled portabello mushroom plate.“We’ve called it beast feast for years because nobody else does it. It’s something a little different. There’s a lot of wonderful things about buffalo. It tastes beefier and has more flavor than regular prime rib,” Caylor said. “It’s our largest fundraiser, and it’s a more elegant dress-up evening.”The Rotary Club of Minden supports Kids & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center, Backpack Buddies, China Spring Youth Camp, Boys & Girls Club of Carson Valley, AED devices in every middle school and more.Tickets for Beast Feast are $65 before Friday, and $75 after.
