Artist demonstrates plein-air
Artist and art teacher, Luverne Lightfoot of Reno, will present a demonstration at the monthly meeting of the Carson Valley Art Association 1 p.m. Friday at the Douglas County Public Library, Minden.
Lightfoot is dedicated to capturing light in her vivid color and atmosphere in her soft pastel and oil artwork. Her presentation will feature pointers for plein-air (on location) painting. She will utilize one of her field studies as inspiration to demonstrate a painting.
The recipient of numerous awards, Lightfoot’s paintings hang in collections throughout the United States and abroad. Painting a variety of subject matter, her art journey has enhanced her desire to paint the effects of light, she said. Whether painting in her studio, working directly from life or nature, her artwork glows with vibrant color and contrasting light, which makes her images very powerful.
Her passion for her work inspired her to become involved as a teacher of oil and pastel painting. She instructs workshops and presents programs for various art organizations. Currently she is teaching at the Nevada Museum of Art on Liberty Street in Reno.
“Life and art are brought to a oneness by brush strokes expressing a very personal viewpoint,” Lightfoot said. “My joy in painting consists of constant experimentation and forever being a humble student of life and art.”
