Art classes offer creative outlets

Lone Tree Gallery workshops

Lone Tree Gallery in Minden offers ongoing classes and workshops by local artists in various media.

Weekly art instruction includes oil painting with Greg Drinkwine and private watercolor classes with Don Fotine.

Upcoming workshops include watercolor with Reiko Hervin on Jan. 22, pastels with Thaleia Georgiades on Jan. 28-29, gourd art with Jan Rollenhagen Feb. 2 and Feb. 9, and silk painting with Louise Noel on Feb. 5.

Art association meets

The Carson Valley Art Association meets, 1:30 p.m. Jan. 28, at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Office, 1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville.

Anne Armijo gives a demonstration on creating dyed silk scarves. The free meeting is open to the public. Refreshments served.

Drawing, watercolor classes

Artist Reiko Hervin offers drawing and watercolor classes February through April at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension office, 1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville. Each class includes 30 minutes of still-life drawing and two hours of watercolor painting and critique.

Beginning class is 9:30 a.m. to noon, Thursdays starting Feb. 10. Intermediate class, 1-3:30 p.m., Thursdays starting Feb. 10. Advanced class, 1-3:30 p.m. Thursdays starting Feb. 3. Cost is $138 for six classes. Sign up by Jan. 29 with Reiko Hervin, or 465-1163. See Hervin’s work at

Watercolor classes begin February

Artist Teri Sweeney offers beginning watercolor class, 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 16 in her Gardnerville studio.

Sweeney has shown her Western artwork in the CM Russell Art Auction in Great Falls, Mont., the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum Invitational Western Art Show and Sale in Canyon, Texas, and the National Western Art Exhibition in San Dimas, Calif.
