A thankful Carson Valley

We asked for letters about what Carson Valley is thankful for this year, and received responses from residents young and old. If you would like to tell us what you’re thankful for send us a letter of 100 words or less with your name, where you live, phone number and age to challer@recordcourier.com.

I never thought I would ever say this, but I’m thankful to be old. We who have lived through most of the twentieth century have seen amazing new inventions, survived wars and depression, experienced great pride in our wonderful country, raised families and have lived to see grands and great-grands. I’m extremely grateful for good health and a thousand other blessings that have come my way. My heart aches for the coming generation, but it is in God’s Hands.

Margaret Olesen, 89,

I am very thankful for all the friends I have made through R2C2. It is so nice having others I can visit with, and have things in common with. I believe our Valley has some of the most incredible people in it. I am very thankful for my home. It may need improvements, but the view is incredible and it is my home. I am very thankful for all my animals. They add so much joy to my life, the extra work is nothing. I am very thankful for my job, as it keeps me able to keep my house and animals. Lastly, I am thankful my son has grown some this year, and am hopeful he finds a job in the next year. I am thankful to all our service men and women that make our country free and such a wonderful place to live. Hoping all have things in their life they are thankful for.

Wow! Where do I start? It’s been quite the year! First and foremost, I’m thankful for all of the blessings and gifts in my life that would not be possible without a loving God. With that being said, I’m thankful to be a cancer survivor! I am thankful for my wonderful husband, kids, parents and friends for the prayer and support they all gave without hesitation through my surgery, treatments and periodic freak-outs, as well as the many awesome medical professionals that took this journey with me! I am thankful for good health that we so often take for granted!
