Wayne Louis Lopes

June 3, 1937 – August 8, 2016

Wayne Lopes passed away at the age of 79, at the Gardnerville Health and Rehabilitation Center, on August 8, 2016.

Wayne was born in Los Banos, CA and spent his early life growing up on a dairy farm. His family moved to Santa Clara during his school years where he graduated high school.

At one time he went to work picking apples in Washington State. He served honorably in the Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard at Subic Bay, Philippines and was in the Merchant Marines. He put his training in the

Navy as an electrician to use in his career with Paramount’s Great America Theme Park, maintaining the rides.

Following retirement, Wayne and Francine moved to Johnson Lane in 2000.

Wayne enjoyed working in the yard, gardening and landscaping. He enjoyed reading and Westerns Movies. The Lone Ranger was his favorite program. Wayne has been described by his loved ones as a kind and wonderful man, who liked to make people happy.

He is survived by his wife, Francine, cousin, Gary Tosta, 2 nieces and a nephew.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 27 at 9am, at St Gall Church, Gardnerville, Nevada.
