Shirlee L. Jacobs “Grammie”, 82, a longtime resident of Gardnerville, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2017.

She was born on May 7th, 1934 and grew up in Riverton, Wyoming. She played piano, self taught and with perfect pitch, throughout her life.

In October 1953, Shirlee married Chuck Jacobs and they a started their life together in Lander, Wyoming. She worked in banking for many years until moving the family to Lake Tahoe, Nevada in 1969.

She worked as a 21 dealer, along with her husband Chuck, at the new Sahara Tahoe Resort until moving down into the Carson Valley. They spent the next few years creating their dream home, yard and garden on their acre property.

A few years prior to the birth of their first granddaughter, she began making her well known flannel baby blankets and burp clothes. Her blankets have swaddled babies for decades.

Shirlee worked as a dealer for many years, at Sharkey’s Casino in Gardnerville where she made many local friendships that continued until her death.

Grandkids, great grandkids and neighborhood kids all benefitted from her kindness. Generations of children in the Ranchos, knew her as Grammie and would stop in to see her and get a soda or batteries for their toys. She was known as the Twinkie lady at Halloween, giving out thousands of them over the years. Grammie also supported her great grandkids sports teams, often bringing sodas and cookies for them. She cared for husband for 22 years, after a car wreck that left him disabled.

Preceding her in death was her husband Charles (Chuck) Jacobs in 2006.

Shirlee is survived by daughters Shayleen Snyder (Jim) of Loveland, CO Celynn of Reno, NV and son Scott (Arleta) of Dayton NV; granddaughters Shaye Robbins (Dave), Cody Cooper (Kenzie), Stephanie Griffith (Ryan), Jenny Johnson and 7 great grandchildren.

There will be a gathering for friends and family May 20 @ 2:00pm at Bentley Ranch Park, 1751 Orbit Way, Minden NV 89423.
