Richard M. Morgan

June 15, 1936 – April 5, 2014

Jun 15, 1936 – Richard M. Morgan, 77, of Yerington, Nevada passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2014. Richard was born June 15, 1936 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Chester and Martha Morgan where he was raised as an only child. After high school, Richard joined the Army and traveled, eventually settling down in California where he met first wife Peggy, with whom he was married 30 years before her passing. It was Peggy who came home from a visit in Nevada and told him “I just bought 10 acres in Fish Springs, we’re moving” ; and so the Nevada adventure began. Richard spent his career as a precision welder and there was no task he couldn’t undertake. He was forever tinkering in his shop fixing, building, creating. In 1994, Richard met Elaine Klavon which began a new chapter in his life that lasted nearly 20 years. Together they enjoyed motorcycle riding, camping, quading, and hosting their famous annual Christmas RV Jamboree where their house had the most Christmas decorations for miles and friends and relatives would come from all over with their RV’s to “camp” at Richard’s house in the middle of winter, on their street, on the side of their house, on the other side of their house, in his yard. . .anywhere an RV could fit on a standard lot in a standard subdivision. God bless his neighbors for tolerating this annual weekend event! Richard, along with Elaine, also enjoyed playing Mr. and Mrs. Claus for various families over the years. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Peggy. Survivors include wife Elaine, son Steve (Danette) Morgan, grandchildren Will and Katrina, and daughter Karen (Doug) Leet, grandchildren Malyn and Landyn, as well many extended family scattered across the miles. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 11:30 a.m. at the CVIC Hall in Minden, Nevada. Please join us to celebrate Richard’s life and share in our memories. A potluck luncheon will be held.
