Ramona Marie Godecke

Minden resident Ramona Godecke, 86, died Dec. 28. She was a 22-year member of Fortnightly, and sang in the Trinity Lutheran Church choir.

Ramona Godecke was born Ramona Marie Reynolds in North Platte, NE on September 13, 1929. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1947. Ramona graduated from Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She completed a post-graduate course in obstetrics at Boston Lying-In Hospital in 1953. From 1954-1958, Ramona was the obstetrics supervisor at Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, CA. She was the obstetrics supervisor at the University of Tennessee Medical Center for three years beginning in 1958. In 1961, she began working at Alta Bata Hospital as a delivery room nurse. She moved to Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento in 1962 and began working on her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Sacramento State. In 1963, Ramona married widower Clarence Godecke, Jr. and his four children. The family moved to Carson Valley in 1964. Ramona became a twenty-two year member of Fortnightly and then continued to work with the club as an honorary member. Along with being a wonderful Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, and great cook she was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for many years and attended Bible classes. She was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). Ramona was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Richard and Raymond. Ramona’s survivors include: her husband, Clarence Godecke, Jr., brother, Russell Reynolds and sister-in-law, Chris in Pennsylvania, children: Susan Keller, Dennis (Tina), Bill (Karen) and Paul (Geri) Godecke, ten grandchildren, John and Jennifer Keller, Megan Lentz, Colin, Steven, Mark, Quinn, Kelly, Chase and Kyle Godecke, two great-grandchildren, Grant and Willa Godecke. A Memorial Service will be held for Ramona at Trinity Lutheran Church 1480 Douglas Avenue, Gardnerville, Nevada on Friday January 8th at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Choir 1480 Douglas Avenue, Gardnerville, NV 89410.
