Obituary: Betty Jean West

Betty Jean West passed away Aug 10th 2013 at her daughter’s home in Walker. Betty was born to Carl and Elsie Loveless in Benton County Ark in 1927. Joe and Elsie Munson with Betty moved to Coleville in 1934. She went to school in Coleville and resided here until her death. She married Roy west in 1943, they had two daughters.

For many years Roy worked heavy equipment doing assessment work for mines. They spent the summer camping in places like Bodie, Devils Gate & Long Valley. Roy was killed in a car accident in 1959 and Betty was left to raise their two daughters and Roy’s brother Mike.

Betty worked at many different jobs through the years, she drove school bus, owned and operated a commercial laundry, worked at Walker General Store, was half owner in a septic pumping business and cooked in every restaurant in the valley.

Betty was a world traveler. She traveled with different lady friends to many different countries. Betty is survived by her two daughters, Judy Baxter and Diane Reay, her brother Larry Joe Munson, three grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Betty was a fun loving person and always knew how to have a good time. She had many friends and will be missed by all.
