Norman James McLeod “Jim”

February 22, 1943 ~ May 14, 2019

Norman James McLeod “Jim”, born February 22, 1943, passed away surrounded by
family on May 14, 2019.

Jim was born in Alberta, Canada and grew up in the small town of Lacombe. After many Canadian winters (uphill in the snow both ways), Jim joined the U.S. Army at 18 and was stationed as a medic in Heidelberg, Germany.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, he decided to live in the United States and pursued his pilot’s license. He became a pilot and flew helicopters and single engine aircraft in multiple states.

He settled in Reno, Nevada where he started working as an orderly, then becoming a Respiratory Therapist in 1972. During this career, he worked at hospitals in Reno, Carson City and Lake Tahoe. In 1980, he fulfilled his long-time dream of being his “own boss”, when he opened the 7-Eleven store on Tillman Lane in Gardnerville Ranchos, Nevada from which he retired.

Jim was a generous, hard-working entrepreneur, an amazing husband and father, a loyal friend. He also had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Denise, son Steven, daughter-in-law Yuka, and daughter Jamie.

A Celebration of Life Memorial is scheduled for: Saturday, June 8th @ 1:00 pm at LifePoint Church, Stephanie Way in Minden, NV.

Any who knew Jim and would like to celebrate his wonderful life are welcome to join.
