Mitzi Neal

April 2, 1932 – Sept. 22, 2016

Mitzi passed away at Carson Valley Medical Center on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at age 84, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Mitzi was born April 2, 1932, in Long Beach, CA to Chester and Leona Jenks. They moved to Gold Hill, OR, where she attended Gold Hill High School and graduated in the Class of “49”. There were 14 in her graduating class.

She met and married Bernard Martin Thumle Jr., or “Hap” to all who knew and loved him, on March 5, 1951, and divorced when their love faded. They had 2 children, Wayne, who we lost a couple months ago, and Brenda. Mitzi had 5 grandchildren, Kayla Thumle, Sarah Anderson, Jeremy Engols, Jason Engols and Jeanine Engols, with 5 great-grandchildren. She also had a step-son Jeff Hartman, 2 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild.

Mitzi loved to travel with her mother. She worked in the medical office field most of her life, and formed her own medical transcription service in Torrence, CA, where she met the love of her life, Joe Hartman. They were together about 25 years and married in the Carson Valley, then moved to Gardnerville Ranchos where they had built a house. They lived many happy years. Joe passed away 6 years ago and he is missed terribly.

Mitzi was greatly loved and her memory will be kept alive by those who survive her.

No service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Carson Valley Medical Center
