Merle James McKinney

Husband – Father – Grandfather

Merle was born to Jesse and Vestal McKinney in De Queen, Arkansas, where he spent his first 11 years of his life.

The family moved to Yakima, Washington in 1945, where Merle completed the 10th grade, then went to work in the apple orchards to help support the family.

Merle enlisted in the Navy in 1952, completed basic training and completed his high school education. Merle was assigned to the USS Brinkley Bass as BT, where he spent his tour until he was honorably discharged in 1956. He then

returned to Yakima, Washinton, where he married his wife Louise Mason.

Merle took a job at El DuPont manufacturing plant in Antioch, California as a boiler operator and settled down in Brentwood to raise his family. Merle worked 30 years at Dupont, and retired in 1986 to enjoy the good life. Merle loved to hunt, fish and camp with his family.

Merle is survived by his wife of 61 years, Louise McKinney; daughters, Pam Krasner and Judy Baker (husband Doug); sons, Ron McKinney (wife Mary), Monte McKinney (wife Debbie), Rodney McKinney (wife Sandy); sister, Shirley Jones (husband Don); brother John McKinney (wife Betty); 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Merle – Dad – Grandpa – Pops will be missed by all.
