Jan. 9, 1939 – Feb. 26, 2016

John Charles (Jack) Meadows, 77, peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home, on February 26th 2016, surrounded by his spouse and best friend Velma Meadows and many family members. Jack was born January 9th 1939, in Hemet, California, to Richard Merrill Meadows and Lorene Koster Meadows. He spent his childhood in Southern California with his two younger brothers, Dick and Gail, and graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1957. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy for two years on the USS Toledo and the USS Los Angeles as a Quartermaster. He graduated from San Jose State University in 1963 and remained in the San Francisco Bay Area until 1976, eventually settling in Gardnerville, Nevada as the owner of Meneley Motors, a farm equipment and International Harvester dealership. He changed career paths in the early 1980’s and worked as a Financial Advisor for the last 34 years of his life. Jack spent most of his life serving his community, in both Gardnerville and Sparks, with Rotary International. He had a love for the outdoors and spent the past 17 years on the Red Hawk Golf Course with a group of unforgettable friends and an occasional slice. Jack was a loving spouse, father, brother, grandfather and mentor. He is survived by three children from his first marriage with Helen Meadows; Richard (Jennifer), Paul (Jodie), and Julie Burson (Sean), as well as seven grandchildren – Emily, Lauren, Zach, Alyson, Erin, Sam and Nolan. He taught them to ski and play golf – Grandpa Jack will be missed immensely. A celebration of Jack’s life will take place this summer. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made Rotary Foundation c/o Reno Sunrise Rotary Club. If you would like to share a memory and leave your condolences you may visit the Book of Memories:
