J Earl Newton

J Earl Newton was born on April 27, 1931 South of Vernon to H. Earl Newton and Helena (Engel) Newton.
Earl attended Mount Hope country school from first grade through eighth grade. High school years were in Vernon, CO graduating with the class of 1949.
Earl entered the Navy in July of 1951 and was honorably discharged In 1957. While in the service he took class P school for eight weeks in Florida, then class A school in Tennessee, becoming an Aircraft Piston Engine Mechanic. He was overseas in Japan, Korea, and Hawaii stationed on the USS Princeton.
After the service Earl worked for Mather Airforce Base as an Aircraft Piston Engine Mechanic, later moving into a management position.
Earl married the love of his life Patricia B. Inglis on June 9th 1957. Not only did he marry the love of his life, but also gained a daughter Kathleen Ann whom he adopted.
Earl and Patricia resided in Sacramento, CA from 1957 to 1993 then moved to Gardnerville, NV. He came to Wray, CO in January 2017 because of ill health.
Earl attended Sacramento City College and earned an Associates in Arts degree. Later he attended Sacramento State College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He worked at Mather Airforce Base at night and attended college in the daytime.
Earl was preceeded in death by wife Patricia; daughter Kathleen; parents H. Earl Newton, Helena (Engel) Newton; father-in-law Sidney Inglis; mother-in-law Elizabeth Inglis; brother-in-law Sidney; brothers Gerald, Wayne, Robert Newton; sister-in-laws Glenda Newton, Patty Newton, Elizabeth Hummel; brother-in-law Clifford Castor, Wesley Hummel; nephews Gene Newton and Randel Newton; and great niece Ana Ortega.
Leaving to mourn his passing brother, Dean Newton and wife Carol; sister Virginia Castor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Earl will be missed by all who knew him.
Graveside services were held at Grandview Cemetery August 30, 2017.
Schmidt-Jones Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
